Our organic rosemary honey is harvested in Andalusia. This is hardly surprising, given that rosemary is typical of the Mediterranean region, where vegetation is dense and flourishing. The resulting nectar is sweet, yet tasty and aromatic.
Characteristics of organic rosemary honey
Rosemary, from its Latin name Salvia rosmarinus, is a shrub in the Lamiaceae family. It is an aromatic plant with small, violet-blue flowers. It flowers twice a year, in spring and autumn.
Rosemary grows mainly around the Mediterranean: Spain, Portugal, Italy, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. Harvesting extends from spring to summer, and is even possible in winter when temperatures permit.
It is a monofloral honey, cold extracted and certified organic by ECOCERT FRANCE. Organic rosemary honey is light in color, almost white. Its color is due to its crystallization, which gives it a smooth, slightly granular texture.
It's a tasty product, which can be enjoyed to treat certain ailments or simply for pleasure. It can be used to sweeten herbal teas, yoghurt or as a natural remedy.
Organic rosemary honey is a source of vitamins A, B, C, D and E. It also contains a number of trace elements such as calcium, iron, lithium and copper.
The benefits of organic rosemary honey
Organic rosemary honey has many virtues: it acts on the digestive, nervous and cardiovascular systems. However, its main action is on the liver. In fact, it stimulates the liver's overall functions. It also detoxifies and drains the liver.
It is also an excellent natural remedy for stomach ulcers and gastric problems. It increases gastric secretions and thus improves digestion. It also combats intestinal fermentation and calms spasms.
One of its lesser-known roles is to stimulate the adrenal glands. This improves physical and mental fatigue. Organic rosemary honey also improves the nervous system, calming mental disorders such as senility.
It also helps improve memory and raises blood pressure, as it is a natural hypertensive. As a vasodilator, it prevents cardiovascular disease and effectively treats haemorrhoids.
It can also be used for skin diseases such as eczema. But also for children, for its high calcium content and positive effect on anaemia. Finally, it can be used to treat respiratory disorders such as asthma and bronchitis.
How to use it
Organic rosemary honey has a smooth, creamy texture, unlike other types of flower honey. This makes it ideal for spreading on slices of bread. You can also use it to sweeten herbal teas.
With its pronounced taste, it goes wonderfully well with fromage frais or plain yoghurt. Also, don't hesitate to use it in your healthy cake recipes in place of sugar for its sweetening power.
