Turmeric capsules, 60 capsules
This food supplement brings together turmeric extract, a source of curcumin, and black pepper extract, in a capsule shell of plant origin. Sixty capsules, two a day: one month's course. Let us say it straight away, because it matters: no health claim is authorised in Europe for turmeric, so this page will not promise you any.

What can be said about turmeric, and what we will not say
Turmeric is a herbaceous plant of the Zingiberaceae family, native to southern Asia. What is used is the rhizome, dried and ground: the orange-yellow spice of Indian cooking. Curcumin is the pigment that gives it that colour. Those are the facts, and nobody disputes them.
No health claim, however, is authorised at European level for turmeric: in the Commission register, claims relating to plants are still awaiting evaluation. In practice, nobody may lawfully state that a turmeric supplement acts on joints, digestion, the liver or anything else. We will not do it. What we sell is a food supplement, not a medicine, and it cures nothing.
Composition
• Turmeric extract (curcumin)
• Black pepper extract
• Capsule shell of plant origin
• Refer to the label on the box for exact quantities and the batch number.
The list is short, and deliberately so: three lines, no superfluous excipient, no added colouring. The yellow comes from the turmeric itself.
Why there is black pepper in the formula
This is the question that comes up most. The black pepper is not there for taste, since the capsule has none. It is paired with turmeric in almost every formula on the market, a habit inherited from Indian cooking, where the two spices are traditionally cooked together.
We stop there on the subject. Setting out an absorption mechanism would amount to suggesting an effect, which European rules do not allow while claims relating to plants remain unevaluated. If the subject interests you, your doctor or pharmacist is the right person to ask.
How to take it

The course usually runs for a month, and can be repeated if you wish.

Turmeric is not the only plant we offer in capsules. Two other items share the same format and the same one-month course.
Precautions for use
• A food supplement does not replace a varied and balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle.
• Do not exceed the recommended daily dose of two capsules.
• Not advised for people with biliary tract disorders: turmeric acts on bile secretion (Anses, Vigil'Anses no. 17, June 2022).
• If you are on any medication, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking it. That is the explicit recommendation of Anses, the French food safety agency.
• Pregnant or breastfeeding women: seek advice from a healthcare professional before starting.
• Between 2009 and 2021 Anses recorded fifteen cases of hepatitis linked to turmeric supplements, three of them severe. Stop taking it and seek medical advice in case of unusual tiredness, nausea, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.
• Keep out of reach of children. For adults only.
Storage
Close the container firmly after each use and keep it at room temperature, dry, away from light and heat. Refer to the best-before date printed on the box.
