Glow Intime intimate cream deodorant

The Glow Intime intimate deodorant is a cream in a 45 g jar, taken with a fingertip. Its ingredient list fits in four lines: coconut oil, beeswax, vitamin E, fragrance. Aluminium free, alcohol free. Let us say it straight away: a deodorant works on odour, it does not reduce perspiration.

Glow Intime intimate deodorant: the 45 g fingertip cream

• A cream in a 45 g jar, taken with a fingertip: no stick, no spray, no roll-on.

• A short formula: coconut oil, beeswax, vitamin E, fragrance.

• Free of aluminium salts and free of alcohol, two statements carried on the label.

• A use set out by the maker under the arms and on sensitive areas, externally only.

• Barcode EAN 6132533900633, made by Eurl Bioness Cosmetics in Birtouta, Algiers.

Deodorant or antiperspirant: not the same thing

The confusion is everywhere, so let us be clear. An antiperspirant contains aluminium salts and acts on how much sweat comes out. A deodorant does not touch that: it works on odour, and perspiration carries on as usual. Glow Intime is a deodorant.

In practice: if you are looking for something that stops you sweating, this is not it, and no aluminium-free product will do that. If you are looking for a scented cream free of aluminium salts for areas where the skin is thin, that is exactly the subject.

What is inside, line by line

• Coconut oil: the oily body of the formula, it is what gives the balm texture.

• Beeswax: it thickens the cream and keeps it in the jar rather than running.

• Vitamin E: routinely used in this kind of formula to protect the oils from oxidising.

• Fragrance: this is what carries the scent of the product.

• This product contains fragrance: it is therefore not suited to skin that reacts to scented products.

Four ingredients is short, and that is useful information: you know exactly what you are putting on your skin. A short list does not mean hypoallergenic, though, and fragrance remains the ingredient most likely to make sensitive skin react. The inner-elbow patch test is not a formality here.

Sensitive areas: what that means, and what it does not

The maker states a use that is external only, under the arms and on sensitive areas. External means on the skin, and only on the skin: never on mucous membranes, never internally. A scented cream has no business on a mucous membrane.

The skin of the groin, under the bust or on the inner thigh is thinner and more enclosed than underarm skin: it warms, it rubs, it sweats. That is precisely why you apply a very thin layer, on clean dry skin, and stop at the first tingle.

How to apply it

On clean, dry skin

After the shower, once the skin is properly dry. On damp skin the cream spreads poorly and lasts less.

A very small amount

A small amount on the fingertip is more than enough. More leaves a greasy film and changes nothing.

Let it sink in

Allow a minute before getting dressed, so the cream absorbs and does not mark the fabric.

Not straight after hair removal

Wait at least twenty-four hours after shaving or waxing: the skin is more sensitive then, and the area concerned already is.

Why a cream in a jar rather than a spray

On an area of thin skin, format matters. A cream is dosed with a fingertip, placed exactly where you want it, and sprays nothing. No propellant, no ball to clean, no alcohol to sting. In exchange you wash your hands afterwards, and application asks for a minute of patience that a spray does not. It is a trade-off, not a superiority.

In the same range

For everyday underarm use, the Extra Soft cream deodorant is the unisex version designed for sensitive skin.

And to compare every format, our natural deodorant section brings together the shop’s creams, solid sticks and roll-ons.

Precautions for use

• External use only, on the skin. This product is not to be swallowed and not to be applied to mucous membranes.

• Patch-test on the inner elbow 24 hours before first use. On an area of thin skin that step counts double.

• Do not apply on damaged or irritated skin, or straight after shaving or waxing.

• Avoid contact with the eyes. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with clean water.

• Keep out of reach of children. Stop using it if redness, tingling or itching occurs.

• This product is a cosmetic, not a medicine. With discomfort, an unusual odour or persistent itching in an intimate area, speak to a healthcare professional rather than carrying on with application.

Storage

Close the jar firmly after each use and keep it at room temperature, dry, away from light and heat, as the packaging states. Like any cream in a jar, take it with clean, dry fingers or a small spatula so as not to spoil the product. In summer a cream based on coconut and beeswax softens: that is normal, and it firms up again when cool. Refer to the date and the period-after-opening printed on the packaging.

Glow Intime intimate deodorant: your questions

Does this deodorant stop you sweating?

No, and no deodorant free of aluminium salts does. A deodorant works on odour; it is the antiperspirant, with its aluminium salts, that acts on how much sweat comes out.

The packaging mentions a lightening effect: what is the reality?

That statement appears on the maker's packaging. We do not adopt it as our own: the ingredient list contains only coconut oil, beeswax, vitamin E and fragrance, that is, a scented oil base. Do not expect a change in skin tone from this product, and take it for what it is: a deodorant in cream form.

Can it be applied to intimate areas?

On the skin of sensitive areas, externally, yes, that is the use the maker states. On mucous membranes, no, never: a scented cream has no business there.

What is it made of?

Coconut oil, beeswax, vitamin E and fragrance. Four ingredients, free of aluminium salts and free of alcohol.

What size and what barcode?

A 45 g jar, barcode EAN 6132533900633, made by Eurl Bioness Cosmetics in Birtouta, near Algiers.

Does it mark clothes?

Not if you let the cream sink in for a minute before getting dressed and use only a small amount. It is an oil-based formula: the dose is everything.
