What is rose water?
Rose water is a hydrosol, that is, the water obtained from the steam distillation of rose petals. During distillation, the steam passes through the petals and takes on their aromatic compounds; as it condenses, it yields the essential oil on one side and the floral water on the other.
It is this floral water that we call rose water. Far gentler than an essential oil, it can be applied directly to the skin, undiluted. Its scent is that of the rose, in a delicate version that never overwhelms.
A beauty gesture thousands of years old
